It can be very intimidating when researching search engine optimization, as there is a lot of information about it on the web. Or, you can make a few simple on page adjustments to your website, which can help to improve your search engine rankings. One of the first things you should take into consideration is the title of your web page, and what it says in your web browser.
You internet browser displays the title of your website. Look at what the web browser says when you go to your website home page. To increase search engine rankings, you should include your main keyword phrases in the title bar of your web browser.
You should then click on all your internal website links and see what the title bar says for these as well. Each title bar on every single page of your site should contain the most important keywords and phrases taken from the page itself. Keep each page title to around six keywords or less. Don’t include repeated words in your title bar, and if so, try to avoid having the same words next to each other.
The next item to put under your microscope is your website content. Use keywords and phrases in your content that potential customers would type into search engines if they were to reach your website.Within the text of your website, use the most important keywords and phrases that a user would search for if they were to find your website. You should try and have anywhere from 100 - 250 words on each page. To achieve good rankings in the search engines, having this text is essential. Having graphics is ok, but the text on your website is far more important to achieving good search engine rankings.
If you can highlight the text within the body of your website, it is in HTML format. The text is probably in graphic form if you can not highlight each individual word. If so, ask your webmaster to change the text to HTML format in order to achieve better search engine rankings.
You then want to have a look at your meta tags. Meta tags don’t really have a great deal of effect on your search engine rankings. But, it is still worth adding them just in case the search engines take this into consideration.
To see if your meta tags are set up properly, click the “view” button on your web browser, and select “source”. A window revealing the HTML code of your website will open. If you have meta tags, you will see them appear near the top of the window. You should see meta name=”keywords” content=. Ask your webmaster to put in this code if you do not have it.
Lastly, we come to the issue of link popularity. The most important factor. The amount and quality of websites that link to your website. Having this directs more quality traffic to your website, and also increases search engine rankings.
All businesses should include a search engine optimization campaign in their marketing strategy. This is because it drives quality traffic to your website, and most of all, it’s free.
